Data Disaster
Written by Brian on May 21, 2007 – 2:30 pm -So our desktop crashed last week. Not only was the timing bad, but the irony is unbelievable.
- I used to back up all my documents and e-mail onto CDs, but I stopped doing it about a year ago.
- Nine months ago I bought an external hard drive to make back-ups, but Lara made me return it.
- Last month I was having some problems with my laptop, so I backed up my files to the desktop so I wouldn’t lose them.
- Lara transferred all her documents to the desktop and gave her old computer away.
- I used to back up our financial records on a thumb drive, but I stopped about 6 months ago.
- I had backed up all our photos onto DVD, but I hadn’t done it for about a year.

Update – we just got our data back. It cost us an arm and a leg, but we got it. We used a company in the UK called RetroData. They were way better than anything we could find here in the states.
