It's easy to convert your score. Just google "Z-score percentile table", convert your score to a Z-score, then use the table to find the percentile.

Is there an up-to-date one for 2010 that has the average as 221 and standard deviation as 24?

I've got a collection of old phones and PDAs in a cupboard in my house - now I'm on a Google Android (G1) phone which I love. One of the abandoned ones is a Palm Lifedrive - I think I'll investigate one weekend and steal your idea! :)

Just read an awesome article about the supraclavicular approach to the subclavian line in the May 2009 issue of Western Journal of Emergency Medicine. It sounds pretty appealing - less incidence of misplaced lines, fewer pneumos, easier to perform during CPR, etc.

One of the tips given to me for subclavian lines is to have the bevel down (towards the direction you ultimately want the catheter to go) and to align the pigtail the same way. That way the pigtail will preferentially go down the SVC. He says since he started doing them this way, he hasn't had a catheter go the wrong way.
Haven't had an opportunity to test drive this tip yet.

I would like to request your permission to use your CXR image for a case presentation that might be published in a TEE cases book by Al Perrino and Scott Reeves. I am one of the editor of the book. My name is Livia Marica, Cardiac Anesthesiologist at MUSC, Charleston, SC.
Your case is a very tipical complication that occurs and I congratulate you for explaining the case; it has a very educational value.
Looking forward to hearing from you, Livia

I "heart" your blog and writing style, Brian. Looking fwd to hearing how everything turns out... sounds like EM was a cluster for most touro folks.

I'm taking everyone's advice, wishing I had xanax, and hoping for the best next year.
